    Climate Impact at the Board: Aligning Governance with Sustainability​

    On 16 January 2025, Chapter Zero UAE hosted an exclusive dialogue during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week titled “Climate Impact at the Board: Aligning Governance with Sustainability.” The session brought together senior board directors and C-suite leaders to explore how effective governance can accelerate corporate climate action. HH Sheikha Shamma bint Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan opened the session, followed by insights from Karina Litvack, Founding Chair of the Climate Governance Initiative.

    Key themes included the need for climate-competent boards, informed engagement with executive teams, and a proactive approach to emerging risks and opportunities. UAE case studies from Tabreed, BEEAH, Aldar and Fertiglobe highlighted tangible actions in sectors from real estate to industry. The event reinforced the board’s role in steering net-zero transitions and the growing regulatory landscape shaping climate governance in the UAE.
